RE: Brief report of 2019 Anne Osborn international Visiting Professor to Rio de Janeiro/Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Dear Dr. Policeni,

I was fortunate to receive the 2019 Anne Osborn international Visiting Professor to Rio de Janeiro/Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I arrived in Rio de Janeiro on 16th August. After I checked in to the hotel, I was visited by Dr. Celso Hygino, my local host. On 17th August, he had arranged a one-day symposium in Rio de Janeiro, where I delivered six talks and he delivered two talks. My topics were:

1. Imaging in Intracranial Hypotension
2. Imaging in Degenerative Brain disorders
3. Imaging in Hydrocephalus
4. Neuroimaging for epilepsy surgery
5. MR Neurography
6. Post-operative Spine Imaging

The talks were very well received. There were many interesting questions that I enjoyed answering. Dr. Hygino later hosted me and my wife at Rio de Janeiro Marina Club and introduced me to his family too. He was immensely helpful throughout my trip and also coordinated my visits and talks in Brasilia and Sao Paulo.

On 20th August, I took a flight to Brasilia, where I was received by Dr. Niedja Tsuno. I delivered two talks on an evening symposium on 21st to a group of radiologists, neurologists, and geriatricians. I spoke on:

1. Degenerative Brain disorders
2. Epilepsy Imaging

I also received an invitation to the 23rd Continuing Education Course (Prof Dr Feres Secaf), held from August 29th to September 1st, 2019, in Sao Paulo. Dr. Renato Mendonca was my local host in Sao Paulo. I was also interviewed by Jornal da Imagem during this large and very well-attended symposium. I delivered the following talks in Sao Paulo.

1. Neuroradiological Applications of Dual Energy-CT
2. Resting Stage fMRI: Functional MR on Clinical Practice
3. Chiari Malformation: Evaluating the Craniovertebral Transition and the CSF Flow

The visit to Brazil allowed me to learn the various models of radiology practice. I was fascinated by tiered medical insurance that provided different levels of experiential experience to a patient during an imaging (CT or MR) appointment, while providing the same excellent professional radiology service. The visit allowed me to impart my radiology experience and knowledge to a different set of radiology residents and professionals, who appeared enthusiastic and participated with full gusto. It established enduring friendships between the radiologists of both the countries that enhanced the relationships between the radiology societies of both the countries. I am enclosing a few photographs of my visit.
